Welcome!

Interested in trying gliding? You've come to right place!

The Adelaide University Gliding Club is based at Stonefield, approximately 1.5 hours from Adelaide, South Australia, on the outskirts of the Barossa Valley. The club is open to the general public, not just those attending University.

If you're interested in visiting our airfield or want to know more about the sport, click on 'Come Gliding!' at the top of this page. You can ring or email our contact person on 0412 870 963 or contact@augc.on.net for more information or to make a booking.

The Club has a group email address, augc-people@lists.internode.on.net, that is used to discuss gliding-related topics, arrange things, report on the weekend's flying and generally be social. If you want to join this group, you can subscribe by filling out the online form at http://lists.internode.on.net/mailman/listinfo/augc-people.  Please keep in mind that glider pilots can be a talkative bunch :)

Bernhard Ager
We've been teaching Bernhard to fly -who turned up at the airfield on the 15th of March- before he would leave us after only a month's time to return home to Germany. He has natural talent that may stem from flying model aircraft and simulators. During Bernhard's last weekend with us, he flew solo! He'd only clocked up a bit over 3 hours of flying time with our instructors before they were satisfied he could fly by himself. That's amazing progress. Well done and have fun flying in Germany :)

Bernhard also mastered the art of winch driving and can take a Level 1 winch rating home with him.

Congratulations!
The winner of the 20 minute aerobatic flight in the Adelaide Warbirds' Nanchang was drawn on Wednesday 19th March. Congratulations go to one of our new members from O'Week, Warren Li, for getting his voucher number drawn out of a hat to win this prize. Have fun- and be sure to tell us all about it!

Solo Training Packages bought - Steven Tanoto, Jason Grieger, John LePoidevin, Ben Schmidt and Aleksei Raymont
We've seen a lot of enthusiasm from a number of new members! You're all making good progress and I hope you're having fun with us. Good luck to all our trainees!

New Solo Pilot - Therese Hosking
Only a few short weeks passed once Therese decided to re-dedicate herself to gliding before she flew solo in the Puchatek! Therese started flying with us on the 15th of December after having a rather extended break from gliding over the academic year. She took advantage of Club operations over the Christmas/New Year period and now has the title of AUGC's first new solo pilot of 2008.

Therese has now moved to Melbourne for study reasons but will return to Adelaide to fly with us whenever she can take a weekend off. We're glad you're so enthusiastic about returning to fly with us- It was nice to see you for Easter!!
